The Role
As a Senior Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in strengthening the company’s risk management framework. Leveraging your analytical expertise, you’ll develop and implement tools to monitor portfolio risk, provide insights into market activity, and collaborate across teams to drive data-informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Modeling & Analysis: Develop and validate sophisticated risk models to quantify and manage market, asset, and trading risks.
- Market Valuations: Independently assess and validate portfolio valuations and new transactions.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Analyze and report on portfolio performance, delivering insights on market events and risk exposure.
- Collaboration: Partner with trading, origination, accounting, and IT teams to enhance systems and processes.
- Compliance & Controls: Support audit and compliance efforts, ensuring robust risk controls are in place for trading and business operations.
What We're Looking For
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, finance, or a quantitative discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years in market risk or a related role in a commodity trading business.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with wholesale power markets is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in analytical and modeling tools such as Excel, SQL, R, or VBA. Strong aptitude for data visualization and communication.
- Personal Traits: Self-starter with a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to distill complex concepts into actionable insights.
